Our Teams Support the Restoration of the North Transept

1.Restoration Work Underway Since 2009

This iconic religious building in the Champagne region has begun the restoration of its North Transept.

As part of the project management assignment entrusted by the DRAC Grand Est to Michel TRUBERT, Chief Architect for Historic Monuments, our TT Géomètres Experts Paris office was commissioned to carry out a complete laser scanning survey of the Cathedral.

The 3D digitisation of the areas undergoing restoration will enable the study, analysis and identification of deterioration affecting the cut-stone surfaces.

2.The Digital Twin: A Powerful Tool Developed by TT Géomètres Experts

To create a digital twin of the North Transept of Troyes Cathedral, our Paris office produced a georeferenced 3D point cloud.

Its purpose is to support the project management studies by providing data for the condition assessment. Our multidisciplinary teams therefore followed several methodological stages of surveying and georeferencing:

  • A horizontal and vertical control network
  • A complete 3D laser scan of the entire Cathedral, adapting the 3D point density to the requirements of the digitisation project (approximately 1 cm²)
  • Interior plans at a scale of 1:50
  • Structural frame and roof plans
  • Projected sections at a scale of 1:50
  • Façade surveys

3.Surveying Precision: A Core Commitment at TT Géomètres Experts

Through the TT360 web platform, developed by the Innovation Department, a 3D point cloud is made available to the project management team, providing the following capabilities:

  • Visualisation of the point cloud and sections
  • Interaction with the digital twin
  • Taking measurements, adding supplementary information, and downloading all or part of the point cloud
  • Complete 3D point cloud plans for the defined area
